Here at WP3D Models, battling Form submission spam is one of our favorite ways to spend a Monday. Actually, that’s not true, but no one likes getting bombarded with junk email less than the crew here at WP3D Models. Earlier today our previous method of blocking spam from our lead-generation form (a respected version of the “honeypot” method, in case you’re interested) was outsmarted by a spambot and started to send out a lot of junk email from our WP3D Models forms. To our customers (and your customers) who found yourselves in the same boat, we sincerely apologize for the inconvenience that this caused.
We decided it was time to implement a more robust & permanent fix.
With a several hour hustle, and a skipped lunch, we were able to push out a new version (2.2.1) that now includes support for Google’s simple & bomber reCAPTCHA (v.2). We’ve also created some documentation on how to create the necessary keys to turn on this new spam-blocking feature within WP3D Models.
In any case, a big THANK YOU to the WP3D Models web of customers for helping make us aware of the issues you’re experiencing and also helping us to get things fixed up.
Happy Spring!
